Forgive the bending - that's a factor of the macro mode.Two IDE optical drives. Both DVD and CD drives will have similar looks at the back. The top one here is set to Master and the bottom is Slave.

A closer view to show the positions for jumpers. A Master drive should ALWAYS be at the end of the IDE cable, Slave ALWAYS in the middle. If you have a blue plug, that end MUST go to the motherboard. To the left you see where the audio cable goes - that plugs in to the sound card or motherboard. To the right is part of the IDE cable itself

An IDE or ATA drive. the data plug has 40 pins in 2 rows of 20. The small, 4 pin plug is for power. This one is set to Master by the white jumper you see. Read the top of the drive to see how to set to Slave or Cable Select.
